Finally!

Well, after almost a year of searching, I found her- my dream horse! She is a 5 year old Trakehner mare, registered as Limited Edition with the Trakehner assn. She's had about 30 days on her, is 16.2, and a dark bay (darker than in the pics). She is only $1,500, and she comes home Tuesday! Her sire is Kobra Von C, who happens to be the half-brother of Moorlands Totilas, making her from the Gribaldi line. Without further ado, here she is (pics from her inspection)!
Sorry the quality of the pics is heinous,  the scanner is not the best! But you can get a pretty good idea of her basic conformation, and she's even more gorgeous now (these are several years old). You can all expect to be bombarded with pictures this Tuesday evening!
I can't wait!

Mare

Well, horse people being the penny-pinching tightwads they are, the gelding I was originally looking at has sold (Was going to give $3,000 for him, but then they found someone that would spend $500 more. Que sera sera.). However, this may be a good thing- I found a 6 year old mare who's 16 hands, her dam was a TBxPerch, and her sire was a Warmblood. She's doing training level Dressage, and has been jumped up to 2'6. She's also being sold for $1,500 OBO. In other words, she's perfect. She's a light bay, with a near fore white coronet, and the most adorable star/stripe/snip (Excluding Spirit's fabulous facial markings, of course). I adore horses with star/stripe/snips. Not that I'm prejudice, or anything ;)
She's up in BC, so we may have to get our passports so they don't think we're terrorists, provided her owners can't drive 15 miles to get across the border. She is, quite literally, 15 miles from the border. Darned border laws.
Anyways, wish me luck. She seems like she could be the one...
Later:
Reviewing the pictures sent to me, she's rather coon footed. I've emailed the owner asking if there's any history of DSLD or anything in her lineage. Also asked if she'd be able to hold up to the rigors of Eventing. I'm about to say "Screw this" and give up on the horse hunt and just get a job as a catch rider xD Ah well. I'm sure it will work out eventually.

Horse?

Well, once again, the horse hunting MAY have proved fruitful. Of course, I've said that... What, four times now? :-)
Anyways, I'm looking at a gelding now, "WF Maximus"- a 15.3, 5 year old, American Warmblood. He's trained for Eventing, which would be super, and is jumping 3'. He is a seal brown, and has a very sweet face. Priced currently at $3,500, but it's not firm... Maybe I can wiggle it down to $3,000?

Found a filly...

Hello, all! Well, I found a good lead on a horse- a WarmbloodxClydesdale. She is seriously adorable, and her trot (in the video, anyways) is to die for. She lives pretty close to the house, too, about an hour away. She's got the Clyde coloring in a more "Warmbloodish" package, so in other words, perfect:-) Not sure on her age though, so inquiring about that. She appears to be young, the owner says they sticked her at 16 hands, and she should mature to 16.2. Well, we'll keep our fingers crossed!

The great list...

... of things I am looking for in a horse. I'm afraid I'm getting a tad picky.
- $2,500, or less
- Preferably a Thoroughbred or some kind of Warmblood, so long as I can find one fast enough for eventing.
- Not a Quarter Horse
- An Appaloosa Sporthorse would be nice, if I can find one
- Not an idiot
- Trained would be nice. I really dislike training horses. They're such nitwits before they're trained.
- Not 2
- Not 24
- 5 would be a really, really good age
- Tall. I will die if I have to ride anything under 16 hands, I know it. 16.3 is my happy height. Even though I look like a flea.
Am I really too picky? I've been looking for a horse that fits this criteria for months, and still nothing. Le sigh.
